Business Development Manager
Job Description
With the new ownership and ambitious growth plans, MAAG Gear is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager – Sales Manager – Southeast Asia who will drive market penetration, strategic customer acquisition, and capital upgrade growth across the heavy industrial sectors of Indonesia and the Philippines. The core mandate is to aggressively capture greenfield & brownfield opportunities in the Mining and Pulp & Paper sectors.
This role utilizes a network of third-party agents and distributors across the region. Using these agents and distributors, the role will partner with these local teams to build customer relationships at the plant level, uncover specialized machinery upgrade projects, and drive recurring aftermarket revenue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Market Penetration into Indonesia & Philippines:
- - New Build: Connect with EPCs & Engineering Houses active within the relevant sectors to promote MAAG Gear products.
- - Aftermarket: Identify aging or underperforming competitor gearboxes (e.g., Flender, SEW, Hansen) on critical lines and position MAAG Gear's custom, drop-in replacement solutions as the premium choice for operational reliability.
- - Indonesia:
- - Key Sectors: Pulp & Paper, Mining, Minerals Processing
- - Philippines:
- - Key Sectors: Mining, Minerals Processing
2. Agent & Channel Management:
- - Identify, and work with local agents where required to gain access to clients.
- - Act as the primary commercial anchor and point of contact for independent third-party agents and distributors across the territory.
- - Equip partners with commercial parameters to resolve local disputes.
3. Aftermarket Execution & Technical Alignment:
- - Own the regional commercial targets for Aftermarket services & solutions, including drop-in replacements, custom parts, overhauls, and field refurbishments.
- - Collaborate closely with the regional Service & Technical Lead to triage incoming plant issues, deploy local field crews efficiently, and translate field inspection data into immediate spare parts quotes.

Qualifications
IDEAL QUALIFICATION:
1. Experience & Technical Credentials:
- - Industry Tenure: Minimum 5 years of proven business development or industrial sales in heavy rotating machinery, large industrial gearboxes, or processing equipment in Southeast Asia.
- - Sector Expertise: Demonstrated commercial network within the Indonesian and Philippine mining sector, EPC contractors, or pulp & paper conglomerates.
2. Competencies & Execution Style:
- - Effective Communication across Levels: Comfortable engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, from corporate office representatives in Jakarta and Manila to local field agents and plant operations personnel on-site.
- - Proactive Territory Management: Self-motivated and capable of working independently to manage regional accounts, identify new project opportunities, and see long-cycle sales through to completion.
- - Communication & Linguistic Agility: Full professional fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory. The ability to negotiate or converse in Bahasa Indonesia or other local regional industrial dialects is a significant competitive asset.
